Lets Not Over Analyze Our Site

Analyzing Is Extremely Over Rated
Is this you?
- You like to check your search engine’s placement several or more times a day.
- You and Alexa are best friend. She provides and update everyday.
- You are constantly checking your link popularity. At least once a week.
- You check the number of backlinks pointing you your site religiously.
- You check you site's stats every day. You are curious as to how often the Googlebot is visiting you.
Don’t be embarrassed. However if this sounds like you, you may want to re-think the amount of time actually spent on certain efforts.
We all want rewards for our efforts right away. There is nothing wrong with that but are we losing sight of our true goals by worrying about stats and popularity ratings?
The promotion of your website is what will increase your traffic. It is what will help you to improve the stats that we've already obsessed about. Both the analysis of a website and its promotion takes time and is a lot of work. Our goal should be to become so busy that we don’t worry about the stats. A properly executed promotion will take care of the stats.
A few things that you can do going forward?
Promotion: Where Do I Go From Here?
- Create a press release
- Look for quality link partners.
- Consider creating a video for YouTube.
- Consider swapping advertising as well as other related services.
- Consume every piece of information that you find on web promotion and marketing.
- Consider adding your site to directories (both paid and free)
- Consider joining related blogs and forums. Contribute, develop a good reputation.
- Contribute your expertise on Yahoo Answers.
- Consider article marketing or writing an eBook.
There are tons of ways to promote your business online. Some you will find fun and some you will not. The best advice that someone once gave me is as follows; "Online marketing isn't just a single thing that you need to do, it's literally a combination of many different things… all coming together within the overall plan.”
Conclusion:
For those of us that thrive on stats and website metrics, it may be difficult to let go. Try staying away from ALL stats whatsoever for a minimum of 7 days. Devote this time to solely promoting your business. At the end of the week, evaluate your progress. If you can keep to this strategy of checking your progress once a week, you should see results every week. You just have focus on promoting your business.
