Keyword optimization – Ranking well with the search engines

Keyword optimization is one of the most overlooked parts of building a web page.  You should always remember to perform this step as the search engine spiders are watching.

Begin by creating a Title Tag using no more than 115 characters. Make sure that you include your main keywords in your title.  When your URL is saved, it is this Title tag that will be the link saved into a favorites list.

Write a descriptive, professional title for your page.  The title should include your main keyword and describe your business. If you think about it keywords in your title make sense.  These are the words users will most likely use for their search.  Try to place each page's keyword at the beginning of your title tag.

Although keyword optimization is important you must be careful not to overdo it.

Though Meta Description Tags are not the huge factors search engines once considered when ranking sites, they should still be incorporated into the page.  The description tag should function as a concise summary of your page's content. Limit your description tag to 200 characters at most.  Maintain the consistency of a unique description throughout your website.

Remember, the Description Meta Tag still carries some importance. Search engines still use it to elaborate on the results links.  Avoid having your description sound just like a collection of keywords.  Develop a concise, professional description.

Keyword optimization requires a little planning but it is worth the investment.  Using keywords on your page helps the search engines determine the topic.  Remember, you will have to repeat keywords often so make sure your text doesn't read poorly.  Your keywords should be repeated 5 to 10 times for every 100 words in your page.

Keywords on a web page’s body are probably the most important part of on-page optimization.  Organize your content within the body then optimize it for the search engines spiders and your visitors.  Be careful though, if you design your site with too many targeted keywords your site becomes unreadable.

Ultimately, it is your visitors that decide on your page’s worth, give them a pleasant experience.

Final reminder, although keyword optimization can help your ranking, it can also hurt you if it is overdone.

It is important to use your keywords on your page, this helps the search engines determine the topic.quoted text
