Installing Wordpress with Cpanel
Installing Wordpress with Cpanel is very easy. Cpanel is an industry leading fully automated point-and-click hosting platform.
Within Cpanel there will be an application called Fantastico. Both Cpanel and Fantastico are provided in standard hosting packages. Before deciding on a hosting package, check to make sure they are incorporated. This application is an absolute must have and it makes installation a snap. It is efficient and quick.
Once you have purchased a hosting package with Cpanel and Fantastico, login to your domain account. Within Cpanel, locate Fantastico Deluxe, normally near the bottom. Click on the Fantastico application.
Once it opens up you should be offered several scripts. They will be on the left hand side of the page. Obviously you want the Wordpress option. Click on Wordpress. You want to create a new installation, assuming you don’t already have Wordpress on your domain.
On your next screen your first box should say “Install on domain”. If this is a new domain place your domain name in this box. I.e…Mynewblog.com. The “install in directory“ box, should only normally be used if you are installing Wordpress in a sub directory. If this is the case then you will need to insert the name of the sub directory. If not leave the “install in directory” box blank.
For the admin access data section enter a user id and password. Make sure that you write this id and password down somewhere. For the administrator nickname try to create a name that uses your keywords. For the administrator email, create something like admin@mynewblog.com or yourname@mynewblog.com. In the next section, the “site” box, include your site name here. Something like Mynewblog. Finally, in the “site description” you can use your site name/ main keyword again. Although not required, placing your keyword everywhere is a good idea.
Click Install Wordpress. On next screen click finish installation.
On the next screen you should see the admin id and password previously created. Compare these items to what you have written down. Below the password and id you should see the URL to your new Wordpress Installation. Click on that link. You are now ready to log in to your Wordpress site with the admin id and password.
Happy Blogging.
