Working hard on your home business? Aren’t we all? As you know, the development of a home business is a great idea but it is also hard work. In order to get your business noticed, you have to understand some of the basics of internet marketing and promotion. In most cases, it is relatively easy to get your home business up and running. The tricky part involves longevity and earning a profit. In any given year some 60% of all newbie home businesses go under. Why, because of a lack of understanding when it comes to the importance of marketing. Marketing is absolutely crucial in today's online world. The following are just a few suggestions to help guide you along.





1. First and foremost, get listed (Search engine listings). It does not matter whether this is done manually or by an outsourced company, just get it done. This first step is very important. Your business should be listed in each and every possible search engine or trade directory. List your business in any place that you think people might find your product/service.

2. Reviews. We all rely on internet reviews. The internet is full of sites that provide reviews. Get your business on a few of these sites. Get your name out there. Get your family and friends to write a few for you. Encourage satisfied customers to leave reviews. Often overlooked, this is a very effective marketing strategy.


3. You are the best your businesses best salesperson. You are the expert on the related product and or service. Talk about your business, product, and services whenever you can. Engage in forum discussion and or newsgroups. Share your knowledge. Consider writing free articles for other sites, with links back to yours of course. Short videos are also a great marketing tool.

4. Sponsorship. It can be something as simple as a local little league baseball team. Sponsorship can be cheaper in some cases than advertising. Sponsorship not only gets you noticed but it also helps you to make a great first impression. In the long run sponsorship increases the chances of a sale and or a recommendation.

5. Consider marketing your product with a strategic partner (a company with a complimentary product or service). Sales generated by partners with complementary products or services are a great idea. A win/win situation. You begin to earn income through your partners marketing efforts and vice versa.

Now obviously these steps are very basic but they will help get you out there. They key is to get your business noticed!
