Blog Posting – A Good Source of Links
by Warren

In most cases, a post to a blog will allow the contributor the option of leaving a link also. This varies from blog to blog.
Some blog owners moderate their comments, removing all links, and some don’t. In many cases it all depends on whether or not the comment is appropriate.
Blogs are extremely useful in terms of marketing and as a source of traffic. You should make it your business to visit as many related blogs as possible. By visiting related blogs, the associated familiarity should help you to contribute meaningful comments.
Keep in mind, it is ok to place links in your post, but let’s not go crazy. I have seen comment posts where the user has inserted dozens of links. All in one post!!! This is spamming and you never want to fall into this category.
Posting Messages on Blogs
There are tons of blogs with great Google Page rank. The links that can be obtained from these sites will really help your search engine rankings. You just have to be smart about how you obtain these links.
Many blogs owners actively manage their blogs, I know that I do. Any comment resembling spam or something commercial is usually deleted.
The following are just a few tips in terms of posting useful comments, promoting your website or blog and avoiding comments that look and smell like a sales pitch.
* Be sure to actually read the blog post. You want to post a comment that actually relates to the blog. I can’t tell you how many times I have receive comments, totally unrelated. If you are using some sort of template, throw it out. They usually backfire. Many posts created with templates are unrelated and therefore deleted by the owner within a few days.
* Lets be fair, if an owner is allowing a link back to your site, for free, do you really need to post dozens of links as some do. One link is enough. Anything more usually gets the entire comment deleted. One other thing, if the blog allows HTML, make sure that the anchor text in your link is keyword rich. Google loves links with anchor text so including your keywords there is paramount.
* Your comment/post should contain some valuable content. We all know how important content is to Google. You don’t have to create an article like comment but it should have some value. Don’t just create a two sentence comment. Add some news, some additional information.
* Need help selecting blogs for your comment posts? Try selecting 40-50 blogs related to your area of expertise. They should have high traffic and a great page rank. Post to these sites all the time. Start by posting comments without links or promotional verbiage. This well help to establish your credibility. Once your credibility has been established, you can then begin posting with links to your site.
Hope these tips help.
Good luck and happy posting.
