Article Marketing: Getting The Biggest Bang For Your Buck

Everyone knows that traffic is everything online. Your business cannot survive without it. So obviously your main goal is to drive traffic to your website. No rocket science there.

One way to drive traffic to your site is via article marketing. The submission of articles to various sites/directories has been a proven way of directing traffic to your website. In this article I’d just like to discuss some of the choices for submitting your articles. All with the ultimate goal of driving more traffic to your site so that you can make more money.

As you may already know there are tons of article directories. You could submit your articles to any number of them. However, we need to work on improving our output, the results of these submissions. We want to spend a little time as possible on these efforts while receiving the maximum results. The following are a few different ways of deciding on which directories to use.

First, to locate these directories just query Google, Bing or Yahoo using the key words “free articles”. Your results should include; articlecity.com, articlecircle.com, articlesbase.com, amazines.com, articleworld.net, freearticles.com, articlesfactory.com, narticle.com, all on the first page of Google search.

You will see articlecircle.com, articlesbase.com, freearticles.com, freearticles.co.za, amazines.com, and articlesfactory.com on Yahoo’s listings. You should also find articlecircle.com, articlesbase.com and freearticles.com on Bing. In order to reach as many potential visitors as possible you may need to submit your articles to several of these websites.

Second, use Google’s page rank to check each directory. This is important, the higher a site’s page rank, the higher its relevance/importance. If you look at a few sites you will notice page ranks as follows: articlesbase.com(6), articlecity.com(5), articlecircle.com(5), articleworld.net(4), articlesfactory.com(4), narticle.com(3), amazines.com(3), freearticles.com(1). The larger the page rank, higher the website’s relevance/importance in Google’s eyes.

Third, user Alexa’s traffic ranking to check each directory. Alexa (third party) is an excellent way to gauge a website’s traffic. You should note traffic statistics for the above websites as follows: articlesbase.com(693), articlecity.com(7,223), articlecircle.com(30,815), articleworld.net(67,986), articlesfactory.com(10,389), narticle.com(64,114), amazines.com(4,488) and freearticles.com(126,657). In this case, the lower the number the better in terms of traffic.

Now let’s combine the three factors when determining where to submit articles. The top three websites would be as follows: articlesbase.com, articlecity.com and articlesfactory.com

One additional factor that you might want to check is the total number of articles and authors per each website. You could use this factor as a sort of popularity check for the directory. As you know, the more content a site has the better. Search engines love fresh content.

Finally if you use software to submit your articles, be very careful. The search engines frown upon poor content. Certain directories may delete your content if it is found to be duplicate. The more original each articles submission is, the better.
