Hi, my name is Warren.
First let me say what a joy building this website for you has
been. I say "for you" because that was my goal. To build a
website that the
average person could understand and use. I have truly enjoyed the
labor and sharing my
experiences with you. It has really been eye opening.
As a business professional, I have over 20 years of experience. My background is in finance and accounting. Over the years I have seen a good number of businesses come and go. Some starting out strong, only to fade in the end. Some starting out rather weakly, only to grow stronger over time.
The one common thread I have noticed amongst both successful
businesses and those that fail, is the amount of planning invested at
start up. Successful businesses are usually successful because
they are attuned with their customer's needs. This is not
something that just happens. You need a strategy; you have to
have a plan.
What are you knowledgeable about?
Everyone has a knowledge base in something.
With a website you have the
opportunity to share this knowledge with others, if you so choose
to. As I began to build this website, I
also realized
that my business background might be useful. I realized that not
only could I help others build
their
website but I could also help them create a business.
Getting started...
I actually started this website very naively thinking that I knew
enough to build a perfect site. I had created websites
before. It wasn't long before I came to
the realization that,
although I
could build one, I would need a little help with the quality
part.
During the my research process I read as much information as I
could get my hands
on. This literally became my (full time) part time job.
The research phase constantly had me questioning the material that I found. You and I both know that there are tons of sites that sell you on building a website. (Build a free website, make money with your website etc...) This is not one of those sites. I felt that those websites help you build a website alright but they never really give you enough knowledge to grow without them.
This website was born out of my desire to create quality product
as well as a willingness to share information with others that might
have similar desires.
Creating a profitable website
The internet is a great place for the average person
to
generate additional incomes. Anyone can have a profitable
website. Anyone from the stay at home mom to the webmaster that
consults on the
side.
The purpose of my site is not to sell you a pretty website and pat
you
on the back. It's purpose is to teach you how to build your own,
the
right way. The goal is to teach you how to view your site as a
business
and to plan accordingly.
This website was created as an alternative to those get quick rich
sites. Building a good website takes time and is not always
easy.
Learning along the way
Now, I have made mistakes along the way. Some things I have
done well
and some things poorly.
The good news is that you don't have to make those same mistakes,
you
can learn from them.
One of my best discoveries along the way has been Site Built It
(SBI).
Building a website is
not that hard. Building a great website is the tricky part.
There are
so many little steps that you need to remember. On page factors,
off page factors etc... SBI helped me to stay focused. It
helped me stay on track.
With SBI you don't need to know HTML, or web design. Just
bring your
motivation and passion to the table. The necessary tools are
included and they walk you through
the process step by step.
